Level II/Intermediate (Gr 7-12) Section O

Description

Level II student requires demonstrated ability to perform a back walkover. Proficiency to perform pullover and back hip circle on a low bar and/or  handstand on a floor level beam. Additionally, students need to know the terminology for most Leaps, Jumps, and turns.

Floor Exercise: Students will be taught how to hurdle, perform basic front tumbling skills (front handspring, flyspring and the combination on the tumbl Trac.  Back tumbling includes roundoff, back handspring on the tumble Trac. When skills are acquired students move to the floor.

Bars: On low bar, connect pullover, back hip circle and sole circle.  Squat on, long swing pullover, and pushaway, long swing pullover

AND/OR

Beam: handstand, cartwheel and step full turn up to the regulation beam.  

Attire for Classes:  Leotard preferred, or shorts and a tucked in T-shirt or tank top. Please pull hair back with ponytail.

An Intermediate student requires demonstrated ability to perform front tumbling skills (front handspring- flyspring combination on floor or front handspring, flyspring separately on floor and front Sommi. Back tumbling skills are round off back handspring (grades 7 and up) and roundoff back handspring back tuck (if graduating from Level I and below grade 7) on floor. 

Floor Exercise: Students continue from above with Front sommi put in a tumbling pass. Back tumbling increases to back tuck sommi (grades 7 up) or back layout (coming from Level I below grade 7).  Begin double pirouette if not already started or learned.

Bars: Continue Kip practice. Learn on Low bar and progress to high bar. Begin clear (free) hips, flyaways

AND/OR

Beam: back walkovers, back walkover series, back handspring (from low beam to regulation beam). 

Vault- Continue vault sequence if not already started. if Grade 6, then begin vault sequence.  

Attire for Classes:  Leotard preferred, or shorts and a tucked in T-shirt or tank top. Please pull hair back with ponytail.

**Students must receive prior approval from Coach Chadwick before registering for this class.**
