Description
At Coding & Video Game Design, 1st & 2nd grade students will learn to code and play their own computer games!
Students will begin coding their own games with ScratchJr before progressing to Scratch & Microsoft Makecode. With Scratch, students will use a Makey Makey to create and program their own musical instruments and game controllers. With MakeCode, students will program arcade games to download and play on a Gameboy-like device called a “BrainPad”. Students will even learn how to code their own mods in MinecraftEdu, and get to test them out by playing the MinecraftEdu game!
Learning to code teaches the “Four C’s”: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. This course is designed for students in grades 1-2 who have an interest in coding & gaming, and are ready to take their skills to the next level.
No class on Thursday, 10/2.
