Dylan Prothro Piano - Wednesday60 Minute
Dylan Prothro is a freelance trumpeter, pianist, and educator originally from Southern California. He began his career teaching at several Southern California high schools while freelancing throughout the Los Angeles area, performing with the Santa Monica and Bellflower Symphonies, as well as for church services and musical theater productions.
In 2021, Dylan relocated to the Hartford area to pursue a Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. Upon completing his degree in 2023, he received trumpet scholarships to both Stony Brook University and the University of Maryland for Doctoral studies. Since earning his Master’s, Dylan has continued to teach and perform throughout Connecticut.
He currently maintains a private studio of about 30 students, offering instruction in brass instruments and piano.
As a performer, Dylan has appeared in church services at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Patrick–St. Anthony Church, and the Trinity College Chapel. He has served as a pit musician for numerous musical theater productions, including Chicago, Hello, Dolly!, A Chorus Line, and Sister Act. His performance credits also include commencement ceremonies for the Yale School of Music and Trinity College, as well as engagements with professional ensembles such as the Hartford Symphony and the Con Brio Choral Society.
