WCE Extended Day Staff Professional Development Day (12/11)
The WCE Extended Day Childcare staff are a team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who strive to provide a safe, fun and nurturing environment for students. The Manager, Lead Instructors, and Instructors have worked together for many years. All staff members have completed an in-depth Wilton Public Schools (WPS) background check, yearly online mandated training, and hold current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications. The school nurses provide additional training on the use of EpiPens, allergy medications, inhalers, and provide State OSHA compliance training.
At Miller-Driscoll, the team encourages the growth and development of students through Let Grow (letgrow.org) and free play. They have many supervised age appropriate activities ready for the students each day: fun games in the gym, and seasonal crafts in the designated WCE childcare room. Outside play is encouraged each day, weather permitting.
At Cider Mill, the team begins to encourage independence through critical thinking, mindfulness and a range of free choice activities. The team provides supervised homework and reading time each day. Students are supervised in the gym, and during outside activities, weather permitting. Students walk independently to and from their in-school enrichment programs, and music lessons.
At both Miller-Driscoll and Cider Mill Schools, access to teachers, paraprofessionals, along with the support of school administration and the use of school facilities allows for a seamless transition to/from the school day to the WCE Extended Day Childcare Programs.
