Description
Did you know that drawing, like math or reading, is a skill that can be taught and developed? Studies have shown that the practice of drawing helps to develop an individual's perceptual-cognitive skills, while also practicing the ability to accurately perceive, process and utilize visual information. Through the use of Directed Drawings, students will be given the opportunity to follow step by step instructions to create a specific drawing. While following these directions, students will also be working on: developing their focus and attention to details, improving their hand-eye coordination, practicing spatial awareness, increasing their fine motor skills and pencil grasp, helping students to inhibit impulsives while waiting for directions, building confidence and creativity, and having Fun, Fun, Fun!
The projects for this class will be based on a winter theme along with special considerations for the interests of the students. Students will follow the step by step directions for the initial drawing and then will be encouraged to use their own imagination and creativity to enhance the background. Additional art materials will be available that may include watercolors, crayons, markers, oil pastels, colored pencils, etc.
A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
No class Tuesday, 2/18.
