Claudia Tondi Violin -Thursday60 Minute

Claudia Tondi studied at the Mannes College of Music, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the State University of San Francisco where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree cum laude in Violin Performance.
 
Ms. Tondi performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty-five years and also performed with the San Francisco Ballet and Opera Orchestras, the American Ballet Theater Orchestra, the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and as Concertmaster for several Broadway shows in New York City. She toured nationally with Barbra Streisand and Luther Vandross and performed with artists Ray Charles, Erykah Badu, K.D. Lang, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Manhattan Transfer, Roberta Flack, Elvis Costello and Mos Def. 
 
Ms. Tondi started string programs at the Luis Munoz Marin School, the Roosevelt School in Bridgeport, CT and at the Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton, CT. For three years, she was a strings coach and conductor for the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras and the violin and viola instructor at Fairfield University. From 2012-2017, Ms. Tondi directed the strings program at the BackCountry Jazz Summer Camp in Bridgeport, CT. In 2013, she started Heartstrings, a conductorless chamber orchestra and performs every summer in numerous concerts at senior nursing homes throughout Connecticut. 
 
Currently, Ms. Tondi s teaching strings at the High Horizons and Multicultural Magnet Schools in Bridgeport, CT, the ASAP program in Waterbury, CT and the KEYS Music Organization. She performs regularly with the Waterbury, Norwalk, Wallingford, Ridgefield and Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestras.
 
Students of Ms. Tondi have performed as Concertmaster and/or soloists in various youth orchestras, participated in Regional and All-State Orchestras and continue playing into college and beyond. Former students have gone on to become certified music teachers, a college professors and a concert violinist with a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree.
